"Kunukwe'neha" (Women's Dance)
By LeAnne Thompson
Original - acrylic on canvas - 24"x48"
This painting is about the distinction of Ukwehuwe (Iroqouis) women. Women have the honor / responsibility of being our children's first teachers, and are ultimately responsible for the outcome of our nations. With patience, love and compassion we encourge our children to practice and learn so as to instill in them, these same qualities, as well as happiness and pride. The women in the painting represent mothers, aunties, grandmothers and community. The baby represents the next generation and those faces yet to come.
